Nexstar and AT-T have entered into a new multi-year extension agreement and return Nexstar`s local channels to DIRECTV, AT-T TV and U-verse. Nexstar stations fell into darkness for Dish subscribers Wednesday night when the two companies failed to reach an agreement, according to a statement from Dish. „We understand how our station may look like an unfair increase in our fares on DIRECTV and AT-T-Verse customers, but that`s just not the case,“ the channel said. „Our prices are set by the market. WTHR has successfully negotiated agreements with all other suppliers in our region. In fact, in recent years, we have entered into hundreds of agreements with cable and satellite companies across the country. „This value is reflected in the hundreds of agreements we have negotiated in recent years with federal cable, satellite, telecommunications and streaming providers,“ he said in the statement. „In the midst of a prolonged pandemic, Tegna is calling for the biggest interest rate hike we have ever seen and deliberately overshadowing its most loyal viewers. We ask Tegna to return its local channels immediately, while we conclude a new agreement and we force Tegna to pay retroactively, which is increasingly high rates to which we finally agree. We share the frustration of our customers, we appreciate their patience and we intend to do everything we can to resolve this issue soon. In addition, AT-T and Tegna were unable to reach a new agreement on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of more than 60 channels on DirecTV, AT-T-verse and the TELEVISION broadcast service AT-T. For its part, Nexstar issued a press release in which dish refused to conclude a new distribution agreement. This fact was disputed by Neylon, who continued to say that Dish had „offered to renew the current contract and keep subscribers unscathed while negotiations continued – once at 11:53 am STT and again at 3:11pm MST – but Nexstar never responded.“ „Unfortunately, DIRECTV and AT-T-Verse have not agreed with Tegna to keep our stations available for their services. Our company has successfully negotiated multi-year contracts with hundreds of cable and satellite providers across the country without disrupting service,“ Tegna spokeswoman Anne Bentley said in a statement, noting that the company`s channels are available from other streaming service providers.
IRVING, Texas – EL SEGUNDO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE) -Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST) („Nexstar“) and AT-T (NYSE: T) have entered into a new multi-year renewal agreement to make 97 U.S.-affiliated and local broadcasters available to affiliated and local broadcasters in 97 U.S. markets. This should not indicate that AT-T or any other pay-TV operator does not take these strategies into account when negotiating a new transportation contract. But they are clearly page 1 of Dish`s book. The company will do whatever is necessary to avoid paying excessive fees, even if it involves harassing subscribers for a certain period of time.
